Last week saw the Export 33 Xtreme Competition return to Whakapapa, and with fine weather for most of the comp there was some great big mountain skiing, including a 50m+ drop by Sam Smoothy!
Sam Smoothy went on to take out the top prize of $10,000 US cash and qualified for the World Freeride Tour. American Chantelle Heroux won the female skiing title.
In the snowboarding competition New Zealander Colin Boyd won the male title, with Wanaka's Abby Lockart taking out the female snowboard title.
The Export 33 Xtreme is 4 star event and a Freeride World Qualifier. Riders compete at many events around the world to score points in order to receive a wild card or invitation to compete in the Freeride World Tour where the best of the best compete at resorts around the globe to become the Worlds Best Freerider.
