Congratulations to MP Abbott and his wife, Alex, who are the lucky winners of the two spots on the Rafting New Zealand South Island Safari, valued at $12,600. The competition was run exclusively on Facebook and received hundreds of entries in the short time it was open. Alex was so excited to be the lucky winner out of the hundreds of entries, but due to a back injury, Alex is unable to join MP on the trip so MP’s friend, Bevan, will take the second spot.
As part of the prize MP and Bevan will travel to Murchison with the Team RNZ crew, then spend four days rafting down remote, grade 3-5 rivers on the West Coast – some of which they will be transported to by helicopter. The pair also received some invaluable Marmot gear, including Storm Shield jackets and DriClime Vests, to keep the elements at bay during the week-long adventure.
As the director of a Kayaking company based in Taupo, MP is comfortable using a paddle, however this will be Bevan’s first time rafting – what a way to try it out for the first time! Bevan is most looking forward to white water rafting for the first time, while MP is looking forward to spending some time on the West Coast.
Rafting New Zealand is based in Turangi. Owner/operators Luke and Pianika Boddington love to raft and provide the best white water rafting experience in Aotearoa. Rafting New Zealand are proudly sponsored by Marmot, Ahnu and KOR. Learn more about Rafting New Zealand here.
